Animal Control
One full-time, certified police officer serves as Fort Valley's animal control officer.
Any requests for animal control assistance should be called in to the Department during normal business hours using the non-emergency phone number provided at the left. After normal business hours, you may request assistance by calling 911; however, the animal control officer may not respond to your request until the next business day.
The City of Fort Valley has a "dangerous dog" ordinance. Under this ordinance, Fort Valley residents that own Rottweilers and Pit Bulls must register their animals annually at City Hall. There is a fee to register these animals. Owners failing to abide by the stipulations of this ordinance are subject to receiving a citation ("ticket").
Animals taken into "custody" by the Animal Control officer will be taken to the Fort Valley Animal Hospital (Dr. Lori A. Giles, DVM) located at 900 Knoxville Street. The phone number is 478-825-1233.
