John David Anderson
Chief of Police

Chief John David Anderson took command of the Fort Valley Police Department on January 1, 2006.  

Before coming to Fort Valley, Chief Anderson served with the following Georgia law enforcement agencies:

  • Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office (Chief of Operations)
  • South Central Drug Task Force (Commander)
  • Ocilla Police Department
  • Irwin County Sheriff’s Office        

Chief Anderson was nominated for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police “Outstanding Chief of the Year” Award in both 2007 and 2008.  

Chief Anderson is a graduate of the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Fort Valley State University.  Chief Anderson also graduated as Class President of Class 32 of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College (Columbus State University). He is still enrolled at Columbus State University where he is working toward a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

Chief Anderson is an active instructor at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center as well as several regional police academies.  In addition to his various Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Instructor certifications, Chief Anderson is certified as an Ethics Instructor by the National Institute of of Ethics.
